Good morning everyone. Are we all ready for Thanksgiving? What are you thankful for. Me I'm thankful for my family and especially my 12 yr old daughter.

Good Morning I'm thankful for my wonderful family, the happiness I've found in these last two years, for second chances, and for God allowing me to move forward in my life.

BRRRR.... good morning! It's a balmy 26*, when I squeezed my moisturize out of the tube it stood up in the palm of my hand like a frosting icicle, completely vertical. I vowed to myself again, not another New England winter. I have a hard time with the concept of Thanksgiving.... we stole your land so lets all have turkey and celebrate. Ummm, er.... something is rotten in Plymouth. I do appreciate the idea of coming together in thankfulness, but I still feel shame when I think of the origination of the Thanksgiving holiday. Aloha and Skeno(Seneca for Hello) BR Sorry you are having a cold start this morning. I really appreciated your thoughts on Thanksgiving. Many today do not recognize that the holiday came with a price to many native americans. I do like the fact that everyone does come together for a day of just giving thanks. I am grateful that I met you and a few others here on the fo! =)

I prefer to think of major holidays as roots to neolithic times when All People depended on the earth for survival. For me, the Thanksgiving holidays are more about the harvest, the good, rooty vegetables and the good fortune of having enough to see us through a long, cold winter. The Canadian Thanksgiving is in October because we harvest much earlier than the beltway folks. We take this for granted with grocery stores, so TG is a good day to remember that despite appearances, we still are at the mercy of Mother Nature. I agree with you BR, and I think it's important to "see though" what the dominant cultures and religions want us to associate holidays with, and remember what they were, or re-invent them for ourselves.

Well this is one I have to work on Usually I love Thanksgiving and I have no problem finding reasons to be thankful. x.However I am still sick(is having a temp between x with med and up to x when meds wear off for four days reason to be concerned. I keep thinking just flu, suck it up, doctors cant help) x.My girlfriend still in Florida x.My kids not here this year x. I have to work on Thanksgiving as well as does my poor mom, at her new job she got to keep food on the table! I guess if my best friend who is Native American can be happy and celebrate I should find a way to count my blessings to! I do hope everyone here has a wonderful Thanksgiving day :) Flyingdog I think about my family on Canadian thanksgiving. My family is from Canada and many still live there. I love Canada and lived there when I was little.

and of course the fact my little dog is sick just seems to make it all worst! He's been my only friend this sick filled weeked staying by my side every minute. How on earth do we grow to love these furry little friends so much!

There is a native american legend that tells a tale of animals in the day when we humans and animals could speak to one another. Tho today the animals no longer communicate to us in words...they show us in love. Ptown...dang! Fever not good! Chicken soup has an enzyme in it that has proven to help with fever and flu afflictions. I'm sorry I am not closer cause I would forsure whip you up some of the best damn soup, bring you fresh pomegranate juice, and many good books and movies. The web site that has the hawaii weather has the live cams if your daughter is up to it she can go to the statue of Duke at the waikiki beach and she can and talk with you and wave and you would be able to see from your computer live...just a thought. Sending you healing thoughts. Keep the little ones close...they are bundles of pure love.

I think it's not that animals have stopped using words, it's that people forgot how to hear what they tell us.

My Cat and I have excellent communication one example. at x:x every morning..work or if i'm off, she jumps on my bed. walks on my chest, or any other exposed flesh on me; and then jumps down and waits by her food dish. OOr, My favorite, it cracks me up.. she'll jump on the table, lean over and stare at me. I know she wants food, a brushing, or some catnip... thats communication!

:) I think that's the cat dumbing things down to the incredibly obvious! Like the dog staring at me when she's hungry and licking her lips. It's the animal equivalent of pointing at her mouth and rubbing her belly. "FOOD! FILL MOUTH! MMMMM! Understand!?" I suspect that sometimes my animals think I'm cerebrally impaired.

my sick dog.. takes his paw and taps my arm when he wants to get pd. When friends took care of him we forgot to tell him he does that. So they thought he had to go out and pee. to funny :)
